The leaders of the so-called "European Trio" – Great Britain, France, and Germany – have conveyed a joint position regarding the cessation of the war against Ukraine to the Russian side through their ambassadors in Moscow. This was stated in a message from the British Embassy, reports UNN.
The ambassadors of the three countries held a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Mikhail Galuzin. During the talks, the diplomats condemned the latest escalation by Russia and the spread of disinformation in the context of the war against Ukraine.
As noted in the joint statement, representatives of Great Britain, France, and Germany outlined the main provisions of the joint statement by the E3 leaders dated June 7 to the Russian side.
Among the key messages is support for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's call for direct negotiations between Ukraine and Russia with the active participation of the United States of America and European states.
The statement emphasizes that the goal of such negotiations should be to achieve a ceasefire and create conditions for a further peace settlement.
The E3 ambassadors outlined the main provisions of the leaders' statement from June 7, including support for President Zelenskyy's call for direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine with the active participation of the US and European countries in order to achieve a ceasefire and move towards further negotiations
The diplomats also emphasized the unacceptability of further escalation of the war and stressed the need to find diplomatic ways to end the conflict.
