Deputies of the Poltava City Council have adopted a decision to ban Russian-language cultural products, specifically establishing a moratorium on the public use of Russian-language cultural products. This was reported by the press service of the Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language, according to UNN.
As stated in the document, the decision was developed due to the need to protect the Ukrainian information space from the hybrid influences of the aggressor state, which attempts to hinder the strengthening of national identity and the preservation of national culture, traditions, customs, and historical memory
The restrictions will apply in transport, catering and cultural establishments, shopping areas, and other public spaces.
In particular, this refers to a ban on the public use of Russian-language books, musical works, films, theatrical productions, concert programs, cultural and educational events, etc.
As a reminder
On December 3, 2025, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a bill that removes the Russian and Moldovan languages from the list of languages protected by the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages. This makes political manipulation and the undermining of the status of the Ukrainian language impossible.
