Early on Monday morning, a joint patrol of Polish border guards and federal police detected an attempt by 8 people to illegally enter Poland.

The car was driven by a 40-year-old Ukrainian citizen who presented a valid passport and residence permit in Estonia. However, there were also eight people in the car, four of whom were sitting in the back seat and four in the luggage compartment. None of these people, Afghan nationals aged between 19 and 52, had proper documents confirming their right to reside in Germany.

Border guards promptly detained the driver of the car suspected of smuggling and took eight illegal migrants into custody. Further investigation of this incident remains the responsibility of Polish law enforcement agencies.
