The IMF expects Ukraine to receive international financial assistance by the end of March

It is important that Ukraine receives financial assistance from international partners in the first quarter of next year. This was stated by Alfred Kemmer, Director of the IMF's European Department, in an interview with the Ukrainian Service of the Voice of America.  reports UNN.

According to him, it is important that funds from international donors to support the Ukrainian economy arrive in a timely manner. At the same time, the IMF acknowledged that at the end of the year, the Ukrainian authorities took steps to ensure that they had reserves of funds in case of a delay in international assistance.

The IMF has warned that a lack of external aid could prompt the NBU to issue money to cover the budget deficit, which carries the risk of accelerating inflation or forcing the government to cut spending.

Economy Minister Yulia Svyrydenko has admitted that Ukraine may have to postpone civil servant and pension payments to millions of its citizens if the EU and the US do not deliver promised financial aid early next year.

The government has implemented another recommendation from the IMF by publishing the National Revenue Strategy until 2030. The document envisages changes in taxation rules, an increase in excise taxes, and the adoption of EU tax and customs rules.
