Svrydenko to lead Ukraine's delegation at URC 2026 in Gdansk amid diplomatic tensions

The delegation of Ukraine at the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC 2026) in Gdańsk, Poland, will be led by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko. This decision amid the aggravation between the two countries over the decision regarding the Polish order of the Prime Minister was reported on Telegram on Tuesday, UNN reports.

Details

"I will lead the Ukrainian delegation and generally our work at URC-2026 in Gdańsk. The Ukrainian team at the conference will include representatives of Ukrainian business, heads of state-owned companies, representatives of our communities from all over the country, and of course government officials and parliamentarians. Many events at various levels that should strengthen both Ukraine and Poland, and all our partners and Europe," Svyrydenko wrote.

She noted that the Ukrainian team has a clear task — to reach concrete agreements that will work for Ukraine's defense capability and resilience, and expand economic cooperation with partners.

"We expect to sign a number of important agreements with international partners, in particular regarding strengthening our energy sector. Ukraine is committed to constructive and mutually beneficial partnership in the interests of common European security, economic development, and long-term prosperity. Ukraine respects its partners, and it is on the principle of mutual respect that it builds cooperation," Svyrydenko added.

Addendum

The Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC 2026) will take place in the city of Gdańsk on June 25-26, 2026, jointly organized by the Republic of Poland and Ukraine.

Today, the head of the chancellery of the President of Poland, Zbigniew Bogucki, stated that he has information that the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, will not come to the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Gdańsk.

"According to my information, the decision not to come to Gdańsk was made even before President Nawrocki decided to revoke the Order of the White Eagle," said Bogucki.

This comes after the President of Poland, Karol Nawrocki, decided to strip the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, of the Order of the White Eagle.

The decision was made after Nawrocki stated that he is critical of the decision of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, to assign the name "named after the Heroes of the UPA" to a Ukrainian Special Operations Forces unit.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, granted one of the units of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine the name "named after the Heroes of the UPA" at the end of May.

The Order of the White Eagle was awarded to Volodymyr Zelenskyy in 2023 by the then President of Poland, Andrzej Duda.

Following the decision of the President of Poland, a number of Ukrainian high-ranking officials and former presidents Leonid Kuchma, Viktor Yushchenko, and Petro Poroshenko refused Polish awards.
