A court sentenced a Russian serviceman who was captured by the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Bakhmut to 15 years in prison. The man voluntarily joined the ranks of the occupiers and fought against the Defense Forces on the eastern front.
A Russian soldier captured by the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Bakhmut was sentenced to 15 years behind bars. This was reported by the press service of the Security Service of Ukraine, according to UNN.

Ukrainian defenders captured a militant during the Ukrainian Armed Forces counteroffensive near Bakhmut in July this year. Based on the SBU materials, the court sentenced him to 15 years in prison.
Investigators found that the 50-year-old prisoner had previously lived in one of the temporarily occupied villages in Luhansk region, and on the eve of the full-scale invasion of Russia, he voluntarily joined the occupation "208th rifle regiment of the lPR" of the Southern military district of the Russian armed forces.

After the training, the traitor equipped fortifications and firing positions for the Nazis near Shchastia in Luhansk region. Subsequently, the offender was transferred to the Bakhmut area as part of an enemy unit to deter counteroffensive operations by Ukrainian defenders.
Based on the evidence collected, the court found the militant guilty under three articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
