Belgian Army Chief of Staff Admiral Michel Hofmann warns that Russia may open a second front in Europe and calls for preparations in response to Moscow's shift to a military economy.

The Chief of Staff of the Belgian Army, Admiral Michel Hofmann, warns that Russia has switched to a military economy, the opening of a second front of the war is possible, and Europe must urgently prepare. Hofmann  said this in an interview with VRT News, UNN reports.

We see that Russia has moved to a military economy. I think we have a right to be concerned. The language of the Kremlin and President Vladimir Putin is always ambiguous. It is possible that in the future they may open a second front. Either in the south, or in Moldova, or in the Baltic states

- said Admiral Hoffman.

russia  seems to be weakened by the ongoing war in Ukraine, but Hoffman believes that this is only a temporary phenomenon. "Eventually, Russia will rebuild its military machine and restructure its armed forces," the admiral said.

"They have already shown that they have a desire to attack their neighbor. We need to make sure that we have the capabilities to prevent this from happening again and demonstrate our readiness to counterattack if necessary," Hoffman emphasized and added that it cannot be ruled out that "in a few years Russia will open a new front."
