Qatar helped organize talks aimed at releasing some of the 240 hostages in exchange for a temporary ceasefire, a mediation effort that has so far led to the release of four hostages.
"We are very optimistic and hopeful," al-Ansari said at the briefing. - "But we are also very interested in this mediation to achieve a humanitarian truce.
Earlier, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh said that officials were "approaching a truce agreement" with Israel.
According to the newspaper, reports indicate a possible three- to five-day pause in the fighting.
