Passenger and freight transport volumes decreased in Ukraine - State Statistics Service

Passenger traffic fell by 8.6% during the quarter, while freight volume decreased by 0.3%. The largest share of transportation was carried out by road and rail.
In the first quarter of 2026, Ukraine transported 8.6% fewer passengers and 0.3% less cargo compared to the same period in 2025. Such data was released by the State Statistics Service, reports UNN.
During January – March 2026, 478.5 million people used passenger transport. This is -8.6% relative to January – March 2025
According to the State Statistics Service, the largest number of transportations was carried out by road (235.4 million passengers) and trolleybus (102.8 million) transport.
Also, during the specified period, the volume of transported cargo decreased by 0.3% to 76.1 million tons. At the same time, the main volumes of cargo were transported by rail – 34.8 million tons. Another 32.4 million tons were transported by road.
