No plans to reduce mobilization age, but command must introduce new contract system - Zelensky
Kyiv • UNN
The President announced his refusal to lower the mobilization age and announced a new system of military contracts. The Ministry of Defense will develop special conditions for volunteers who have not reached the draft age.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine does not plan to lower the mobilization age, but the Ministry of Defense and the military command should introduce a new system of contracts that will have a specific motivational component, which will allow the army to be formed more through contracts than mobilization. Zelensky said this when presenting the Resilience Plan in parliament, UNN reports.
The Ministry of Defense and the military command should present to our society a new system of contracts for service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine for citizens who have not reached the age of mobilization but want to prove themselves in the best way possible in the defense of Ukraine. These contracts will have a tangible, very specific motivational component. And there is no need for any speculation: our government is not preparing to lower the mobilization age. Based on new contractual approaches, we should gradually move to forming an army largely through contracts rather than mobilization
