Today, March 28, musicians and music fans around the world can join the celebration of World Piano Day, UNN reports.

The event was launched on the initiative of one of the most prominent musicians of our time, Nils Frahm.

The date of the celebration was not chosen by chance - World Piano Day is celebrated on the 88th day of the year, because this musical instrument has exactly that many keys. In normal years, the event falls on March 29, and in a leap year, on March 28.

The musical prototypes of the piano are the harpsichord and the clavichord.

Christofi Bartalameo, a resident of Florence, is called the inventor of the piano. The peculiarity of the instrument he created in 1709 was the hammers under the strings.

And the metal plates that replaced the tongues made it possible to change the volume of the piece, creating loud sounds such as "forte" and "piano". So, along with the new device, a new name appeared.

Later, similar instruments were created by French harpsichord maker Jean Marius and German music teacher Christoph Gottlieb Schroeter. The new mechanics allowed for much faster key presses, which had a positive effect on the quality, fullness, and power of the sound.

The piano as we know it today appeared in the early 19th century. It received a body very similar to the modern piano, and later pedals were added to it, which allow you to control the volume of the game. Types of pianos include upright and grand pianos, as well as electric, electronic, and digital pianos.

Also today, one of the most practical inventions of mankind, the washing machine, celebrates its birthday.

It was on March 28, 1851, that American James King received a patent for a washing machine.

Interestingly, the first prototypes of washing machines appeared in the late 17th century.

The first vending machine was produced in 1937. They were installed in public laundries. In order to wash laundry, you had to put a coin in the machine.

You can still join the celebration of World Historian's Day today.

The first historian known to modern times is the ancient Greek scholar Herodotus, who lived in the 5th century BC.

And the first historian in modern Ukraine was the author of the Tale of Bygone Years, the chronicler of the times of Kievan Rus, Nestor.

Historical science is divided into different groups. For example, general science studies events in the world from primitive people to the present. Ancient history is devoted to the study of information about ancient civilizations and cultures. Separately, historians can study the periods of the Middle Ages, modern times, and historical events of recent years (modern history).

There are many sciences that are inextricably linked to history. Among them are archeology, ethnography, etc.

According to the church calendar, today is the Day of Remembrance of St. Hilarion, who lived in Capadocia in the 7th century.

Upon reaching the age of majority, Hilarion left his family, gave away all his property to the needy, and took monastic vows.

Hilarion settled in a monastery near Constantinople. For his faith and devotion, Hilarion received from the Lord the gift of healing and miracles.

Hilarion was an opponent of the iconoclasts. For this he was detained and severely tortured during the reign of Emperor Leo V. After Michael II became emperor, Hilarion was released. He settled in a separate cell at the monastery, where he died.

Today Hilarion, Stepan, Ilya, and Maria celebrate their name days.
