Israel begins the process of releasing 39 Palestinian prisoners as part of an exchange agreement with Hamas that includes the release of 13 hostages from Gaza

The Israeli Prison Service has announced the start of the process of releasing 39 Palestinian prisoners as part of an agreement with Hamas, UNN reports citing The Times of Israel.

Details

The Israeli Prison Service reportedly received a list of 39 Palestinian terrorism convicts who will be released today as part of a deal with Hamas that will also free 13 hostages from the Gaza Strip.

This is expected to be the first day of four such exchanges, with additional days of ceasefire possible if Hamas agrees to release more hostages.

According to Hebrew-language media reports, the Prison Service has begun proceedings against 39 juvenile and female prisoners who are scheduled to be released today. Shortly before noon, they will be transferred to Ofer prison in the West Bank before being released to the West Bank or East Jerusalem.
