Greece stated at EU meeting that the discovered sea drone is Ukrainian

Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias, speaking at a meeting with his EU counterparts, stated on Tuesday that he is "confident" that an unmanned sea vessel packed with explosives, found last Thursday off the coast of the island of Lefkada in western Greece, was Ukrainian, eKathimerini reports, according to UNN.

Ukrainian Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov, who participated in the meeting online, stated that he knew nothing about it but promised to conduct an investigation and provide answers.

Dendias, for his part, stated that Greece has now definitively established that the "unmanned surface vessel" found is Ukrainian.

Dendias also echoed statements made on Monday by Greek Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis, asserting that the expansion of the war against Russia into the Mediterranean is a dangerous development.

"The presence of this drone, a sea drone, affects the freedom (and) safety of navigation. This is an extremely serious issue," he said.

Greek Ministry of Defense officials told the publication that "after the assessment of the vessel is completed, the case will be handed over to the Coast Guard, which in turn will refer it to the judicial authorities."

"The EU intends not to allow such episodes to overshadow the more important issue of how to provide Ukraine with resources in the coming months," the publication notes.
