Gerasimov called Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff Brown about the launch of a new ballistic missile. The conversation took place six days after the attack on Dnipro with the new Oreshnik missile.

The Chief of the Russian General Staff, General Valery Gerasimov, called the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Charles Brown. This was reported by The New York Times, according to UNN.

Details

It is noted that the phone call between the parties was held last Wednesday, namely, the day before Thanksgiving and six days after Russia launched a new medium-range ballistic missile at Ukraine, allegedly in response to our country's use of American and British weapons to strike Russia.

During the conversation, Gerasimov told Charles that the launch of the Oreshnik ballistic missile was planned long before the administration of US President Joe Biden agreed to allow Ukraine to strike military targets inside Russia with ATACMS missiles.

General Brown's spokesman, Captain Jerald Dorsey, told reporters that “at Gerasimov's request, General Brown agreed not to announce the call in advance.

He added that they discussed global and regional security issues, including the conflict in Ukraine.

On November 21, 2024, Russian troops attacked Dnipro using an intercontinental ballistic missilelaunched from the Astrakhan region.

Subsequently, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, quoted by the Russian media, saidthat Russia had attacked Ukraine by testing a “new” medium-range ballistic missile, the Oreshnik.

British intelligence has analyzed the Russian Oreshnik missile that struck the Dnipro River. The missile, manufactured until 2019, is a variant of the RS-26 and has 36 hypersonic submunitions.
