EU Commissioner for Justice Didier Reyneders confirmed that the frozen €28 billion of private Russian assets and more than €200 billion of state assets will ensure that Russia pays compensation to Ukraine for crimes and destruction. The EU is looking for legal ways to hold Russia financially accountable.
Today, at a meeting of justice ministers from twenty-seven European countries in Brussels, EU Commissioner for Justice Didier Reyneders said that the seizure of Russian assets is a guarantee that Russia will pay for the destruction and crimes committed in Ukraine. This was reported by the Voice of America, according to UNN.

The EU is working on developing legal mechanisms to make Russia accountable, including financially, for the damage it caused by launching a war of aggression against Ukraine. In particular, Europeans are keeping an eye on Russian assets frozen under sanctions.
The first example of the use of state-owned Russian assets was the decision of Belgium to send funds to help Ukraine , the source of which will be billions of frozen Russian assets.
