The official offered an SBU employee $50,000 to avoid liability for embezzlement of property. He was detained at a gas station during the money transfer.

Law enforcement officers in Dnipro detained an official of a state enterprise who attempted to "bribe" an employee of the Security Service to avoid prison, the SBU reported on Friday, writes UNN.
The Main Directorate of Internal Security of the SBU and employees of the State Bureau of Investigation detained the deputy director of one of the state enterprises in the Dnipropetrovsk region, who attempted to bribe an employee of the Security Service of Ukraine. The suspect offered an SBU official 50 thousand US dollars to avoid criminal liability
To offer a bribe to a Security Service employee investigating a case of embezzlement of state property of the company in the pre-privatization period, the suspect, as reported, "involved his acquaintance, who was supposed to 'negotiate' with the Ukrainian special services officer."
The SBU lieutenant colonel immediately reported the received "offer" to his superiors. This allowed timely documentation of the suspect's criminal actions, the special service noted.
"Subsequently, law enforcement officers detained the state company official at one of the gas stations in Dnipro 'in the act' during an attempt to transfer an unlawful benefit," the statement reads.
Currently, the detainee, as indicated, has been notified of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (offer, promise, or provision of an unlawful benefit to an official holding a responsible position).
The issue of choosing a preventive measure in the form of detention is being decided. The offender faces up to 8 years in prison with confiscation of property.
Comprehensive measures were carried out under the procedural guidance of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Prosecutor's Office.
