Continuation of "Barbie" is under threat due to delays in deals with stars and the director

Warner Bros. studio has not yet been able to reach an agreement on participation in the sequel to the film "Barbie" with director Greta Gerwig and actors Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. The studio has until December to finalize the relevant agreements. This is reported by The Hollywood Reporter, according to UNN.

Details

According to The New York Times, Warner Bros. is negotiating with the main participants of the film, offering them a share of the profits if the film achieves certain box office results. At the same time, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav did not approve the proposed deal, considering it "too generous."

However, according to the publication, a Warner Bros. spokesperson denied such a characterization of the situation and reported that the actors' representatives rejected the offer made in May and have not yet provided a counteroffer.

We have a rights agreement with Mattel, and we have made a number of substantial offers to try to finalize agreements for the creation of the next Barbie film. Unfortunately, we have not yet been able to reach an agreement

- stated studio co-chairs Pam Abdy and Michael De Luca.

If the parties do not reach an agreement by December, the rights to the film's sequel will revert to Mattel.
