52 deputies of the russian federation were sentenced in absentia to 15 years for supporting the war against Ukraine - SBU

Fifty-two members of the Russian State Duma were sentenced in absentia to 15 years in prison for actions that contributed to Russia's aggression against Ukraine. The deputies supported the resolutions that led to the invasion, such as recognizing the separatist regions and ratifying a treaty with them.

Another 52 members of the russian state duma who contributed to the unleashing of full-scale aggression against Ukraine were sentenced in absentia. This was reported by the press service of the Security Service of Ukraine, UNN reported.

Details 

It is known that on February 15, 2022, officials supported a resolution to appeal to putin to recognize the "independence" of the temporarily occupied districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

At the same time, on February 22, they voted to ratify the "treaty of friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance" between the kremlin and the terrorist organizations of the "l/dnr".

In the end, the top military and political leadership of russia used this decision as a formal basis for launching a full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Based on the evidence collected, the court found the russian MPs guilty under Part 3 of Article 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine) and sentenced them to 15 years in prison in absentia. In addition, indictments against 23 other Russian MPs have been sent to court. Since the perpetrators are on the territory of the aggressor country, comprehensive measures are being taken to bring them to justice
