To circumvent sanctions, Russian representatives planned to supply smuggled products to Ukraine through third countries. The defendants first registered the goods with Belarusian companies and then sent them to European companies that had already officially exported the products to Ukraine.

Law enforcement officers exposed the illegal scheme during an attempt to clear auto parts at Kyiv Customs in August 2023.

During the inspection of the accompanying documents, it was found that the spare parts were supplied under a contract with payments in Russian rubles, and the final recipient of the funds was a commercial entity with a bank account opened in the aggressor country.

The detected auto parts were seized and, at the initiative of the SBI, transferred to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine to repair vehicles damaged during the hostilities.
