Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris hugged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as he flew to Ireland for a bilateral meeting, media reports say.
It is noted that this is their first bilateral meeting in Ireland, and it is dedicated to the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Speaking at a press conference, the Irish Prime Minister said that the two leaders discussed a potential bilateral agreement on demining, energy, humanitarian aid and food security.
"I just had a very good meeting with President Zelensky. I am very pleased to welcome him to Ireland," Harris said.
According to the head of the Irish government, he "take this opportunity to express the condolences of the people of Ireland to the people of Ukraine, the President of Ukraine, for all the civilian casualties in this brutal illegal war of Russian aggression".
