The American base of Ain al-Asad in Anbar province in western Iraq has been subjected to a missile attack. This was reported by Shafaq News, citing a source in the security service, UNN reports.
Details
At least two missiles were fired from the airbase, where US troops are stationed. Their type was not identified. According to preliminary reports, no one was injured.
“We can confirm that the strike was on an area outside the base, with no damage or casualties. At this stage, we do not have information on how many missiles were fired,” the Pentagon spokesman said.
Iranian-backed groups have been attacking U.S. bases in Syria and Iraq for several months since late 2023, but the attacks stopped in February 2024. In April, the Syrian base again fired at least five missiles. The United States responded with an airstrike on the missile launcher used in the attack.
