The US has banned PRC laboratories from testing electronics for its market due to a perceived threat to national security. The operations of Chinese data centers have also been restricted. At the same time, 75% of all electronics entering the US are tested in China.

The U.S. Federal Communications Commission voted on Thursday, April 30, to ban all Chinese laboratories from testing electronic devices intended for use in the United States. This applies to smartphones, cameras, and computers, reports the editorial staff of UNN with reference to Reuters.

According to the agency, 75% of all electronics entering the U.S. are tested in China. The Federal Communications Commission plans to introduce a simplified approval procedure for devices tested in U.S. laboratories or laboratories in countries that do not pose a threat to the national security of the United States.

At the same time, the commission banned China Mobile, China Telecom, and China Unicom from operating data centers in the U.S. There is also talk of a total ban on telecommunications operators interacting with companies on its "Covered List" regarding U.S. national security issues, although a final decision has not yet been made.

Previously, the Federal Communications Commission banned the three aforementioned companies from conducting any activities in the U.S.

FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr stated that his agency is considering a series of measures "to protect American networks from Chinese bad actors, including limiting their ability to interconnect."
