US announces full naval blockade of Iranian ports starting April 13

The US military pledges to block the movement of vessels to Iranian ports in the Arabian and Omani Gulfs. The restrictions do not apply to transit to non-Iranian ports through the Strait of Hormuz.

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces will begin a blockade of all maritime shipping entering and exiting Iranian ports on April 13 at 10:00 AM U.S. Eastern Time (5:00 PM Kyiv time - ed.). This was reported by  UNN with reference to a message from CENTCOM on the social network X.

Details

It is noted that the blockade will apply to vessels of all countries entering or exiting Iranian ports and coastal areas, including all Iranian ports in the Arabian and Oman Gulfs.

CENTCOM forces will not impede freedom of navigation for vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz to and from non-Iranian ports

- the message states.

It is also indicated that sailors are advised to monitor official announcements and maintain communication with U.S. naval forces in the region.

Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump announced the immediate start of a naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz after the failure of negotiations between the U.S. and Iran on Tehran's nuclear program.
