In a televised address to his cabinet, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that Pakistan played a key role in securing the cessation of hostilities, acknowledging the work of his team, including Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, for their continuous diplomatic engagement with US and Iranian leaders.
He called the truce "the first step" towards broader peace and expressed hope that the talks, scheduled for Friday in Islamabad, would help transform the fragile ceasefire into a lasting settlement.

"The war was only temporarily averted, but this is an important beginning," Sharif said.
