On Wednesday, April 10, with the participation of Special Representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa Maksym Subkh, the Embassy of Ukraine was opened in one of the cities of the Democratic Republic of Congo. This was reported by UNN with reference to the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

The event was also attended by high-level representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Francophonie of the DRC, Congolese civil society, members of the diplomatic corps accredited in the DRC and media representatives.
The opening of the Ukrainian diplomatic mission in Kinshasa and the recent opening of the Honorary Consulate of the DRC in Uzhhorod are evidence of the interest of our countries in intensifying bilateral cooperation at all levels
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the opening of the Embassy of Ukraine in the DRC was part of the President's order to strengthen Ukraine's diplomatic presence on the African continent. In the near future, Ukraine plans to open diplomatic missions in five more African countries.

During a meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Francophonie of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Christophe Lutundula Apala Pen'Apala, the Special Representative praised the DRC's position in support of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity in the war against Russia.
Maksym Subh expressed gratitude to the Government of the DRC for its consent to open a diplomatic mission of Ukraine. The parties discussed the prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation, as well as interaction within international organizations.
Maksym Subh conveyed a personal message from Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba to the DRC Foreign Minister and invited Kinshasa to participate in the Global Peace Summit.

As part of his visit to the DRC, the Special Representative also met with Jean-Pierre Bemba Gombo, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defense and former combatants of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

In March, the Honorary Consulate of the Democratic Republic of Congo was opened in Uzhhorod with a consular district covering the territories of Zakarpattia, Lviv, and Rivne regions.
