The government has approved a strategy for industrial development based on critical minerals, the Ministry of Economy reported on Friday, UNN writes.
The government approved the Strategy for Industrial Development based on Critical Minerals until 2056 and approved the operational plan for its implementation for 2026–2028
The strategy, as stated, "defines long-term approaches to industrial development based on critical minerals and provides for the creation of conditions for the development of high-value-added manufacturing."
The document, as noted, is also aimed at solving systemic problems of the industry and global challenges:
- outdated geological data;
- complex licensing procedures;
- labor shortages;
- infrastructure constraints;
- global challenges related to the concentration of critical raw material supply chains and risks of disruptions in global markets.
"The Strategy until 2056 sets a clear development trajectory for the industry. It is a comprehensive vision that helps focus our initiatives and actions. Also, for us, this document is primarily an opportunity to better prioritize key areas of industry development that require capital investment, technology, and long-term off-take contracts," noted Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture Yehor Perelyhin.
The document was developed in accordance with the Government's Priority Action Plan and Ukraine's obligations under the Association Agreement with the EU.
