Donald Trump's staff has filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission against Vice President Kamala Harris, accusing her 2024 campaign of violating federal campaign finance laws by replacing Joe Biden's name with its own to gain control of his campaign funds.
The complaint alleges that the Biden campaign could not have renamed its committee from “Biden for President” to “Harris for President” once Biden dropped out of the race on Sunday and transferred $91 million.
“This is nothing more than a thinly veiled excessive contribution of $91.5 million from one presidential candidate to another, i.e., from Joe Biden's old campaign to Kamala Harris' new campaign. This attempt makes a mockery of our campaign finance laws,” the eight-page complaint reads.
Meanwhile, Kamala Harris campaign team spokesman Charles Lutwak believes Republicans are “jealous” of the amount of money raised by the Harris camp since Sunday and calls the complaint “baseless.
