The U.S. President announced the signing of a memorandum with Iran on Friday for the full reopening of the strait. Trump noted that vessels are already heading out to sea.

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday that the Strait of Hormuz is "already partially open" and that it will fully open on Friday, when the U.S. and Iran are expected to officially sign a memorandum of understanding, UNN reports citing CNN.

"They're looking for a couple of mines that they've already found, but... ships are starting to go out," Trump said during a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron at the G7 summit. "On Friday, it will be fully open."

Although the U.S. President has publicly complained about the reluctance of European leaders to join the U.S.-Israeli war against Iran, he suggested that the strait would open without much help from France.

"I don't think we're going to need a lot of help because we have an agreement where everything's going to be open and free. We had a little disagreement on that; the entrance fee is free," he said, adding: "I think it would be nice to invite one or two ships from a few countries here."
