On the eve of the tournament final between Spain and Argentina, Trump addressed FIFA leadership, urging them to once again choose the U.S. as the host of the World Cup.

Trump also added that FIFA should "choose someone else for the next tournament" to "remove some of the anger, hatred, and passion."
Trump spoke about the idea of a joint U.S.-China tournament
The U.S. president also said that FIFA President Gianni Infantino proposed holding one of the future World Cups jointly between the U.S. and China. Trump joked that footballers "will have a nice short flight between matches."
As Politico notes, the nearest World Cup that can still be bid for will take place in 2038. The 2030 tournament will be hosted by Spain, Portugal, and Morocco, with the first matches to be held in Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay. Saudi Arabia has already been chosen as the host of the 2034 World Cup.
