Certain residential areas of Kyiv, particularly Troieshchyna, have a critical dependence on a limited number of large energy facilities, which significantly increases their vulnerability during Russian attacks. This was stated by former head of "Ukrenergo" Volodymyr Kudrytskyi in an interview with the Ukrainian Crisis Media Center, as reported by UNN.
Details
According to him, in the event of damage to one key power source, large areas can remain without light and heat for a long time.
Troieshchyna, in essence, depends on one large generation source, at most two. When these facilities are attacked, the district immediately experiences an acute electricity deficit
He emphasized that such a concentration of supply is a consequence of the centralized model of the energy system, which has been formed over decades.
According to Kudrytskyi, it is the lack of a sufficient number of local electricity sources near large residential areas that leads to large-scale blackouts during attacks.
Recall
Ukraine has strategically lost a significant part of its traditional electricity generation due to Russian strikes and equipment dismantling. Many power units have been destroyed or damaged, and some have been disassembled for parts.
