The American military is preparing pinpoint strikes against small Iranian vessels in the Persian Gulf. Trump ordered the immediate elimination of boats if they approach the blockade.

The US is considering using small boat strike tactics against Iranian fast attack craft in the Persian Gulf, similar to those used in anti-drug trafficking operations in the Caribbean. This is reported by Fox News, writes UNN.

Details

This refers to fast and precise strikes against small targets, which the US has already used in the Caribbean and the eastern Pacific.

Since September 2025, the US military has conducted dozens of such operations, destroying vessels linked to drug trafficking.

Trump claims progress in Iran talks, but adds - without a deal, hostilities will resume16.04.26, 21:42

President Donald Trump stated directly: "Any Iranian boats approaching the blockade will be immediately eliminated... It's fast and brutal."

Why it's harder in the Persian Gulf

Unlike fighting drug traffickers, in Iran's case, the US is dealing with regular military forces. Iran possesses thousands of fast attack craft, some of which are equipped with anti-ship missiles and can operate in "swarms."

According to experts, up to 900 such vessels are capable of carrying weapons, and the total number could reach 3000-4000 units.

Another round of talks on Iran could happen "over the weekend" - Trump16.04.26, 22:04

Iran actively uses camouflage tactics – boats can hide in tunnels, civilian objects, or blend in with commercial traffic. The Strait of Hormuz, which is about 30 km wide at its narrowest points, creates difficult conditions for target identification.

This increases the risk of rapid escalation in the event of any incident.

Current situation

Currently, Iran, according to analysts, is acting cautiously and trying to avoid direct confrontation. However, against the backdrop of the blockade and protracted negotiations, the risk of maritime incidents is increasing.

Experts note that the next stage of the conflict could unfold precisely in the form of rapid clashes at sea, which could affect global energy markets.
