The U.S. war against Iran has already cost $29 billion — this estimate is higher than the previous figure of $25 billion that senior Pentagon officials provided to Congress two weeks ago. This was reported by CNN, according to UNN.

"At the time of the testimony before the (House Armed Services Committee), it was 25 billion, but the joint group and the comptroller's team are constantly reviewing this estimate, and we now believe it is closer to 29. This is due to updated costs for repairing and replacing equipment, as well as general operating costs for maintaining personnel in the combat zone," stated Jay Hurst, the acting Pentagon comptroller, during a hearing before the House Appropriations Committee on Tuesday.

It was previously reported that the $25 billion estimate Hurst presented to Congress in April was an underestimate and did not account for the projected costs of repairing significant damage to U.S. bases in the Middle East. According to one source, a more accurate estimate is around $40–50 billion when factoring in those costs and the replacement of damaged equipment.
In response to a question about whether he could provide Congress with a more formal calculation of the cost of the war with Iran, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth stated that the Pentagon would "share what it can… when it is appropriate and necessary."
"I think that is exactly the format that will be necessary," replied Democratic Congressman Pete Aguilar.
