30 days after the start of the US-led negotiation process in mid-February 2025, the Russians carried out 4,776 UAV strikes on Ukraine. For comparison: 30 days before that, the occupiers carried out 3,148 strikes.
The Telegraph's analysis also revealed that the Russian attacks took place on the days when there was a public dispute between Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky in the Oval Office, and the United States temporarily suspended intelligence sharing with Ukraine. At that time, the Russians launched more than 250 unmanned aerial vehicles.
In recent weeks, Russian attacks have become more widespread, according to the analysis. This is associated with a change in the tactics of the Russian Armed Forces in the use of UAVs.
"Russia is trying to increase strikes on Ukraine in order to force Kyiv to make painful concessions and demonstrate that it can continue the war indefinitely," said Daniel Byman, director of the War, Irregular Threats and Terrorism Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. At the same time, Ukraine is increasingly trying to intercept Russian UAVs and missiles.
