Ukraine has simplified the procedures for processing documents and temporary residence for foreigners serving in the Defense Forces or planning to sign a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The new rules are intended to reduce bureaucracy and facilitate the legalization of their stay in the country. This was reported by Deputy Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko after a government meeting, according to UNN.
Foreigners who are fighting or planning to join the Defense Forces will find it easier to obtain temporary residence in Ukraine. The government is establishing the procedures for processing their documents. Consequently, temporary residence permits will be issued for the entire duration of the contract and for an additional six months after its completion,
The issue for those planning to sign a contract has also been regulated. It is now possible to submit documents with an expired validity period in cases where a new passport can only be obtained in the aggressor country or a state that does not recognize the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
The government has also addressed situations where a foreigner cannot renew a passport because it requires applying to the aggressor state or a country that does not recognize Ukraine's territorial integrity. In such cases, documents can be submitted even with an expired passport.
Separately, the confirmation of residence is being simplified for certain foreigners currently serving.
"The decision should remove unnecessary bureaucracy and create more transparent and normal conditions for staying in Ukraine for the people who are defending our state,"
