Famous Thai travel blogger Bowornthat Pengsuk, better known by his pseudonym Hlun Solo, was found dead in a hotel in Tbilisi two weeks after he stopped communicating with his family, reports UNN citing "Georgia News".
As Georgian media report citing the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, an investigation is underway under Article 115 of the Criminal Code — "incitement to suicide". According to established practice, in Georgia this is the article under which cases of non-violent death are classified.
According to Radio Tavisupleba, the body of the 27-year-old Thai citizen was discovered in a hotel about two weeks ago. However, official police confirmation appeared only on July 29.
The blogger's family reported that they last contacted him on July 13. Pengsuk was traveling alone in Georgia, filming material for his YouTube channel. After contact with him was lost, relatives turned to the public for help.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, Georgian law enforcement agencies, and the Thai community in Georgia joined the search. Shortly before the confirmation of his death, the Thai Foreign Ministry reported that, together with the Georgian side, it continued to establish the traveler's whereabouts.
Hlun Solo was one of the most popular travel bloggers in Thailand. His YouTube channel had about 914 thousand subscribers, and the audience of his Facebook page exceeded 2.5 million users. He was known for solo trips to hard-to-reach regions and publishing video diaries from various countries.
The circumstances of the blogger's death have not yet been disclosed. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia provided no additional comments on the case; the investigation continues.
