The authorities of the Estonian capital granted the right to free travel a week after the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation. Now the cancellation of the privilege is being prepared - this is due to the change in the status of most Ukrainian migrants.

The basis for invalidating the right to free travel for Ukrainian refugees is the fact that most of them (we are talking about those who live in Tallinn) are currently officially registered in the capital of Estonia.
As explained in the official record of the decision:
"For registered residents of Tallinn, the right to free use of public transport applies, therefore, there is no need to maintain a separate right to free travel specifically for military refugees in the capital's public transport"
It is reported that the previously adopted order should be declared invalid, but the resolution will enter into force on May 1, 2025.
That is, there will be a month to ensure sufficient time for adaptation to change.
