Starmer said that together with French President Emmanuel Macron, "I will convene a leaders' summit this week to advance international efforts" to end the conflict and unblock the key oil route.

On Monday, he told lawmakers in the House of Commons that the strait must be reopened "without any conditions" and "without tolls."

France and Great Britain have led international efforts in recent weeks to increase pressure on Iran to stop blocking the strait. They have also convened military planning meetings for an operation to ensure the safety of navigation after the conflict ends.

It is unclear what impact the US blockade of Iranian ports, announced by Trump, will have on these plans.
