The foreign ministers of Germany, France, Poland, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom issued a joint statement of support for Ukraine after a meeting in Warsaw. In particular, the statement states that the ministers believe it is necessary to strengthen NATO by increasing security and defense spending, to strengthen the security and defense of Europe, to continue to strengthen military, economic and financial support for Ukraine, etc. This is stated in the statementposted on the website of the British government, UNN reports.

Details

The statement points out that Russia has been systematically attacking the European security architecture, and over the past 1000 days, in its war of aggression against Ukraine, it has killed many thousands of people and repeatedly violated international law.

Russia's reckless revisionism and persistent refusal to end its aggression and engage in meaningful negotiations are challenging peace, freedom and prosperity on the European continent and in the transatlantic region. russia is increasingly relying on partners such as Iran and North Korea to support its illegal war. Moscow's escalating hybrid activities against NATO and the EU are also unprecedented in their diversity and scale, creating significant security risks. To meet this historic challenge, we are determined to join with our European and transatlantic partners to think and act big on European security

- the statement said.

The statement also indicates that the ministers consider it necessary:

  • reaffirm the continued role of a strong and united NATO as the foundation of European defense and security, based on a strong transatlantic bond, a firm commitment to defend each other, and fair burden sharing;
  • Strengthen NATO by increasing security and defense spending in line with our previous commitments, while recognizing that in many cases spending in excess of 2% of GDP will be needed to address growing security threats and meet deterrence and defence requirements across all domains in the Euro-Atlantic area.
  • strengthen Europe's security and defense by using all available levers, including the EU's economic and financial strength;
  • invest in critical military capabilities, including air defense, deep precision strikes, drones and integrated logistics, as well as critical infrastructure and cyber defense, while investing in research and development and leveraging new technologies;
  • to increase resilience to cognitive warfare and hybrid threats in Europe, also through relevant EU mechanisms, and to contribute to the resilience of our societies,
  • continue to increase military, economic, and financial support for Ukraine, while welcoming the $50 billion G7 loan to ensure that Ukraine has sufficient resources for the coming year;
  • remain steadfast in our support for a just and lasting peace for Ukraine based on the UN Charter;
  • continue to deter russia by impeding Putin's ability to wage his war of aggression and restraining the build-up of russia's military capabilities, including through restrictive measures.

Recall

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte pointed out the need for more assistance to Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression, especially against the backdrop of North Korea, China and Iran supporting Russia in its military efforts.
