The second Ukrainian Ada-class corvette Hetman Ivan Vyhovskyi (F-212) was launched in Turkey. This was reported by the First Lady of Ukraine, UNN reports.
Details
The launching ceremony took place at the RMK Marine shipyard in Istanbul. The ceremony was attended by First Lady Olena Zelenska, Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov, Navy Commander Oleksiy Neizhpapa, Baykar owner Haluk Bayraktar, and Hero of Ukraine Mustafa Dzhemilev.
The corvette was named in March 2024. The Hetman Ivan Vyhovsky was solemnly laid down last August at a shipyard in Istanbul.
“Hetman Ivan Vyhovskyi is the second Ada-type corvette assembled at a shipyard in Turkey by order of Ukraine (the previous one, Hetman Ivan Mazepa, is currently undergoing sea trials).
Today is a special day for the corvette and everyone involved, comparable to a person's birthday, because we are launching it. Just like two years ago, when Hetman Ivan Mazepa was launched, I am honored to take part in the ceremony at the invitation of the Ukrainian Navy. This powerful vessel will guarantee the security of the entire region, the common sea of our countries. Because Ukraine is defending not only itself, but also the very principle of peaceful coexistence for all.
