In the Prykarpattia region, a large-scale scheme for the illegal extraction of natural gas from the state gas transportation system was uncovered, resulting in losses to the state exceeding 203 million UAH, according to the investigation. The head of a private enterprise and three of his subordinates were involved in organizing the scam and have been detained. This was reported by the Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Ruslan Kravchenko, according to UNN.
In Prykarpattia, prosecutors uncovered a large-scale scheme for the illegal extraction of natural gas from the gas transportation system of Ukraine. It was organized by the head of a private enterprise engaged in the extraction of mineral resources. He involved three subordinates in the implementation of the scheme,
The enterprise used the state gas transportation system to transport extracted gas. Fuel accounting was carried out through a special metering station, which is under the control and sealing of the "Gas TSO of Ukraine."
According to the investigation, from January 2022 to October 2025, the participants of the scheme systematically interfered with the operation of the gas metering station.
It is noted that the scheme was primitive in its method but large-scale in its consequences: using a special key, they shut off the valve on the measuring line, causing the electronic calculator to record distorted data on gas volumes.
As a result, the state failed to receive over 8 million cubic meters of gas. In fact, the fuel was illegally siphoned from the network and sold on the market as their own resource. The amount of established damages is over 203 million UAH,
The organizer of the scheme and his three accomplices have been detained. They have been notified of suspicion of large-scale fraud and the legalization of property obtained by criminal means.
Prosecutors are preparing motions for detention. They will also insist on bail in the amount of the damages caused to the state – 203 million UAH.
When gas is stolen from the state system, it is not "business." It is a direct loss to the state and a blow to the country's energy security. The investigation continues. We keep working,
