US-Iran negotiations will depend on the results of Trump's meeting with Xi Jinping. China will become a key player in ensuring further dialogue.

Negotiations between the US and Iran will not see significant progress until President Donald Trump meets with Chinese leader Xi Jinping later this week. A regional source close to the negotiation process told CNN, according to UNN.

According to the interlocutor, the further development of the negotiations "will depend on the results of President Trump's visit to Beijing."

The source also noted that it is "very likely" that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi will be in Delhi for the BRICS foreign ministers' meeting on Thursday and Friday — the same days Trump will be in Beijing.

The CNN interlocutor emphasized that Araghchi's presence at the BRICS meeting "is of great importance," as the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia and Egypt are also likely to be present.

Egypt and Saudi Arabia are among the countries facilitating informal dialogue between the US and Iran through the mediation of Pakistan.

At the same time, the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia and Egypt have not yet officially confirmed their participation in the conference.

"China will be an important player in ensuring the continuation of the dialogue," the source added.
