On Christmas Day, December 25, passenger traffic at the border decreased slightly. If before that, border guards recorded border crossings of up to 150 thousand people, then on Christmas Day 68 thousand people crossed the border. This was stated by the spokesman for the State Border Guard Service, Andriy Demchenko, during a telethon on Thursday, UNN reports.

"The highest passenger traffic was before December 24. I would like to remind you that on weekends, the figures were up to 150 thousand on both Saturday and Sunday. On Monday, the passenger traffic slightly decreased, though not significantly - 127 thousand people crossed the border, traveling in both directions. On Tuesday, the dynamics was at 88 thousand people crossing the border both to leave and enter. However, it is noteworthy that Sunday, Monday and Tuesday were characterized mainly by entry into Ukraine - 10 thousand more people crossed into Ukraine every day than those who left. On the 25th, Christmas Day, passenger traffic slightly decreased. Yesterday, 68 thousand people crossed the border, but the dynamics was 50/50 - 34 thousand were traveling to Ukraine and 34 thousand were traveling outside of Ukraine. In recent days, no significant queues have been recorded, as was the case over the weekend," said Demchenko.
He noted that passenger traffic could grow again, which could last until the end of the New Year holidays. According to him, this year the dynamics of passenger traffic during the New Year holidays is the highest during the martial law period.

The State Border Guard Service reports a decrease in attempts to illegally cross the border from August to December 2024. Most violations are recorded on the border with Romania and Moldova, and the least - with Poland.
