"French President Emmanuel Macron has proposed that the European Union's 27 member states should coordinate their strategy over how to strengthen Europe after Donald Trump won the U.S presidential election," a French government official said, as quoted by Reuters.
At the same time, it is reported with reference to the French Defense Ministry that the French and German defense ministers will hold talks later on Wednesday after Trump's victory.
According to the publication, Trump has criticized NATO, accusing European allies of spending too little on defense. During his election campaign, he repeatedly stated that the United States would help protect NATO members from a future Russian attack only if European allies spent more.
