Ukraine no longer has political obstacles on its path to EU membership, and negotiation clusters are expected to open in the coming months. This was stated by Ihor Zhovkva, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, during a meeting with a delegation of the Ukrainian-Austrian inter-parliamentary group led by its chair, Henrike Brandstötter, UNN reports with reference to the Office of the President of Ukraine.

Zhovkva thanked the Austrian side for the resolutions in support of Ukraine, as well as for the decisions within the EU regarding Ukraine. The Deputy Head of the Presidential Office also expressed gratitude to the Austrians for their absolute support of Ukraine and assured that official Kyiv would continue to implement the relevant steps, including those regarding EU membership.
There are no longer any political obstacles on the path of Ukraine's progress toward EU membership. The next step should be the opening of negotiation clusters within the coming months, and in 2027—a political decision on Ukraine's accession to the EU, provided that all steps necessary for membership are completed

On April 23, the European Union officially adopted the final document underlying the EU's 90 billion euro loan to Ukraine. The EU also adopted the 20th package of sanctions in response to the escalation of Russian armed aggression against Ukraine.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy indicated that Ukraine expects the first tranche of funding under the new EU loan in the near future—by the end of May or early June.
