Netflix has released the first teaser for the series "Scooby-Doo: The Beginning." A distinctive feature of the new project is that the legendary Scooby-Doo will appear on screen as a real dog for the first time in the franchise's more than 50-year history, UNN reports.
Details
The teaser shows Scooby-Doo exploring a forest and spotting Shaggy Rogers, played by Tanner Hagen, nearby. At the end of the video, viewers get their first look at the dog with his characteristic floppy ears and turquoise collar in the arms of his new best friend.
The Scooby-Doo franchise has existed for over half a century. During this time, three feature films for theaters, more than ten animated series, and nearly 40 animated films have been created. However, the new series will be the first project in which Scooby-Doo is played by a real dog.
The premiere of "Scooby-Doo: The Beginning" will take place in 2027, and it will tell the story of Shaggy and his old friend Daphne Blake (Mckenna Grace) during their final summer at camp, as seen in the new teaser.
The teenagers find themselves embroiled in a chilling mystery surrounding a lonely, lost Great Dane puppy who may have witnessed a supernatural murder.
With the help of pragmatic and scientific town resident Velma Dinkley (Abby Ryder Fortson) and the strange but very handsome newcomer Fred Jones (Maxwell Jenkins), they set out to solve a case that drags them into a terrifying nightmare threatening to expose all their secrets.
Based on the Hanna-Barbera cartoon characters, the beloved group of teenagers and their special dog will investigate the horrific case that first brought Mystery Inc. together, Netflix said in a statement.
In addition, Paul Walter Hauser will also appear in the series, though his role remains a secret, and filming for the project began in Atlanta in April.
