Ukrainian director Ihor Malakhov died on December 29, 2023, in battles near Avdiivka, near the village of Stepove. All this time he was considered missing, and his identity was established only after a DNA examination. This was reported by director Volodymyr Tykhyi, according to UNN.

According to Tykhyi, in early 2024, he helped the deceased's wife clarify the circumstances of the soldier's death.
Ihor Malakhov served in the 425th separate assault unit. His comrade-in-arms with the call sign "Pukh" said that Malakhov had the call sign "No Name" or "Mykhailovych" and was the group leader.
He consciously went, considered himself a volunteer, was eager and wanted to kill the enemy. He said that he went to defend the Motherland and give a future to his descendants so that they would live in a free Ukraine
According to him, Ihor was a creative person, took many photos, worked with video, and dreamed of going to the liberated territories of Ukraine after the victory to film people's lives and show it to the world.
I remember him as a very cheerful, optimistic person who saw his future, believed in victory, and was very proud of the battalion
Malakhov took his last battle during an assault operation when his group received an order to take up defense and hold back the enemy's advance. According to his comrade-in-arms, the enemy turned out to be much larger than the Ukrainian military expected.
On April 21, 2026, a farewell ceremony for Ihor Malakhov will take place in Kyiv. He will be buried in the Alley of Glory of the Berkovetske cemetery.
