In 2013, cultural infrastructure facilities were damaged or destroyed due to russian aggression. This was reported by the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy, UNN reports.

Details

It is reported that as of June 25, 2024, 2013 cultural institutions, excluding cultural heritage monuments, suffered damage. At the same time, 332 of them were destroyed.

The loss of state-owned cultural institutions amounted to 32 objects, and of municipal ones - 1981 objects.

In general, they suffered:

  • clubs - 969;
  • libraries - 715;
  • art education institutions - 157;
  • museums and galleries - 117;
  • theaters, cinemas and philharmonic societies - 37;
  • parks, zoos, and nature reserves - 15;
  • circuses - 3.

Cultural institutions in 286 territorial communities in many regions were destroyed, most of them in Dnipropetrovs'k, Donetsk, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv, Luhansk, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, and Chernihiv.

The Ministry reminds that as of the end of June 2024, almost the entire territory of Luhansk and significant parts of Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, and Kherson regions are still under temporary occupation, which makes it impossible to calculate the exact number of cultural institutions affected by the hostilities and occupation.
