It is noted that the main celebrations took place on the Champs-Élysées, where about 20,000 people gathered. Some fans set fire to cars, bicycles, and trash cans, launched fireworks at the police, and smashed shop windows.
Seven police officers were injured, one seriously, and at least 283 people were arrested.
At the same time, French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez announced that the celebratory events planned for Sunday on the Champ de Mars will proceed as scheduled.
