One of the elements of tomorrow's discussion at the security summit will be aimed at a lasting ceasefire in Ukraine by the Russian Federation and its control and monitoring. This was stated by French President Emmanuel Macron during a joint press conference with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, reports UNN.

Our first effort in military support for Ukraine is to immediately mobilize the efforts of our partners. The second element of our discussion tomorrow will be aimed at a lasting ceasefire to control, monitor and support this aspect. We will discuss how to build this sequence of ceasefire and how to reach the prospect of lasting peace

- Macron said.

According to him, another element of the discussion will be the model of the Ukrainian army.

Because when a peace agreement is signed, the biggest guarantee for Ukraine is to have its own army, which will be the first barrier and prevent new possible  attacks by the Russian Federation. The fourth element is the forces to ensure guarantees. They will not stand directly on the line of contact, but the second barrier to also be a deterrent. Our groups are now working on planning such stages

- Macron said.

Macron stressed that "our goal is, first, to allow Ukraine to maintain the situation at the front now, and secondly, to repel aggression, but at the same time to bring closer the prospects for a lasting peace."

On March 25, it was reported that French President Emmanuel Macron will receive Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the Elysee Palace on Wednesday evening to prepare for the security summit to be held on Thursday, the Elysee Palace said,

The new summit on "peace and security for Ukraine" is a continuation of meetings held in Paris and London in recent weeks to establish "security guarantees" for Ukraine as part of a possible future peace agreement with Russia.

The new version should allow "to complete" work on "short-term" military support for Ukraine, on a "sustainable and long-lasting model of the Ukrainian army to prevent Russian invasions [in the future]" and on "security guarantees that European armies can provide", including through ground deployment on Ukrainian territory, the French president said last week.

According to a diplomatic source contacted by Agence France-Presse, more than twenty countries from the European Union and/or NATO, including Great Britain, Canada, Norway and Turkey, have been invited.

At the same time, Emmanuel Macron continues his reflections at the national level on strengthening defense efforts in France and in Europe in the face of the American desire for demarcation. For the third time in recent weeks, on Tuesday evening he will receive the head of government, François Bayrou, and several ministers for a working meeting on the issue of additional military spending that they consider necessary, and their financing.
