Latvia approves a new aid package for Ukraine: EUR 9.6 million to be spent on reconstruction and military support

The Latvian government has approved a new package of comprehensive assistance to Ukraine in 2024, with 5.3 million euros earmarked for Ukraine's reconstruction and 4.3 million to support the Armed Forces through the European Peace Fund, the country's Foreign Ministry said on April 2, UNN reports.

"On April 2, 2024, the Cabinet of Ministers approved an information report and a draft decree on Latvia's participation in the reconstruction of Ukraine in 2024. This year, Latvia will participate in the reconstruction of Ukraine for a total amount of 5,337,753 euros. The adopted documents also provide for the payment of 4 million 300 thousand euros as a contribution to the European Peace Fund to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine," the Latvian Foreign Ministry said

As noted, in 2024, Latvia will continue to focus on Chernihiv region in the following areas: reconstruction of social infrastructure facilities; psychological support for women; digitalization sectors and transfer of experience to Ukrainian experts on EU issues, spatial planning, etc.

Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Olena Kondratyuk reacted to this decision.
